Dave Kolesar: Fishing the Great North Woods of New Hampshire
Using Errol New Hampshire as a base of operations this presentation will take the audience to the upper Androscoggin River, the Dead Diamond watershed and some of the numerous lakes and ponds.
Famous for its place in New Hampshire’s logging history the Androscoggin River is now a popular fly fishing destination and is one of the few rivers in New Hampshire that can be fished from a drift boat.
The presentation will discuss when the best time to fish these waters is and what flies work best at different times of the season.
David Kolesar is a licensed New Hampshire fly fishing guide and a partner in New Hampshire Rivers Guide Service and the Northeast Fly Fishing School. He spends the fishing season guiding anglers throughout New Hampshire with excursions to Massachusetts and Connecticut. Drift boat operations are conducted on the large rivers of northern New Hampshire.
David is certified by Fly Fishers International as a fly-casting instructor and, in addition to the Northeast Fly Fishing School, teaches fly casting and fly fishing for L.L. Bean’s. He has also been a volunteer fly fishing instructor with New Hampshire Fish and Game’s Let’s Go Fishing program for over twenty-five years.
David ties his own flies and is a past president of the United Fly Tyers one of the oldest fly tying clubs in the U.S. He can also be found as a demonstration fly tyer at the International Fly Tying Symposium, The Fly Fishing Show, Fly Fishers International festivals and other events. David is also a member of the Catskill Fly Tyers Guild.
David has fly fished many national and international locations including Alaska, Brazil, and the Bahamas.
Joe Judd: Turkey Hunting
2013 NWTF Roger Latham Award Winner! Joe’s Journey as a sportsman began at the age of 10 as he followed in the footsteps of his father and grandfather and was fully entrenched in the outdoor scene by the age of 18. In 1979, while turkey hunting in Vermont he met Dick Kirby who had just founded a company called Quaker Boy Game Calls. Ten years later, with much success and knowledge having been acquired by both men, Joe was asked to join the prestigious Quaker Boy Pro-staff and thus another segment of his outdoor career had begun.
Since that time Joe has traveled throughout the country producing outdoor videos, instructing at seminars and clinics, while at the same time honing his own skills along the way. Joe has pursued everything from Maine moose to Alabama mallards. His expertise as an “Over the Edge” turkey hunter is well known throughout the Northeast. He has appeared on the Quaker Boy Video Series, and has assisted many celebrities and countless sportsmen in their turkey hunting adventures. He is a member of the Bass Pro Hunting Staff, the Alpen Optics Pro-Staff, and has served three terms as President of the Massachusetts State Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation. During his tenure as President he worked successfully, with then Governor William Weld, in making the Eastern Wild Turkey the “State Game Bird” which also carries the distinction of having November 18th forever proclaimed as “Eastern Wild Turkey day “in Massachusetts. His column, “On the Ridge” is widely read and has been published in Maine, Massachusetts, New York and Vermont. He has recently completed his first book entitled, “On the Ridge: Stories from a New England Hunter” which is due out in 2018.

Todd Mead was introduced into hunting in the Adirondack Mountains of New York. After continued success in the big mountains, he decided to venture to public lands across the country to see if he could locate and take big bucks in different areas across many states. He has continued the tradition of anchoring big bucks to the ground no matter where he has traveled. He hunts primarily with archery equipment outside of his home state, and uses a rifle while in the mountains at home.
